To these artists:
A Fine Frenzy, "Almost Lover."
The Weakerthans, "Virtue the Cat Explains her Departure," "Watermark," "Relative Surplus Value," and "Aside."
Rocky Votolato, "Suicide Medicine," "Prison is a Private Property," and "Postcard from Kentucky."
The Format RIP.
The band broke up last week. The first song I heard by them was coincidentally enough entitled "First Single." Best band to listen to in the car,(with the exception of "Open Road Song" by Eve 6) especially the song "tune out." Other songs for suggested listening are "Janet," " For You," " Inches and Falling," and "I'm Ready, I am."
Imogen Heap, "Cumulus" AKA "Hide & Seek" and "Clear the Area."
Farside, the song "Hope you're Unhappy" potentially could change your life. By far one of my favorite songs of all time. Catchy as hell.
Today was extremely cold thanks to a "Flash Freeze," days like this make me happy to have a coat like this
On a normal day I'd look like a weirdo in this coat, but when true New England weather strikes this coat goes from; strange, overly lustrous, mammoth, and overwhelming to functional. It becomes the envy of every passerby on the street stuck in their normal wool winter jacket that just wasn't made to provide warmth in -10 degree temps. Luckily the rest of the week shouldn't be so bad despite some precipitation on Wednesday.
... as previously mentioned I will now respond on last night's showing of the Grammys in regards to Amy Winehouse. She was unable to make it back in time to the US to perform at the actual show due to delays in getting issued a travel Visa. Instead Winehouse performed/ accepted her awards from London with an audience consisting of close friends & family in London broadcasted via satellite. Winehouse projected genuine feeling and validity with every word sung to viewers while performing "Rehab." This display of feeling was most likely due to the fact that she finally said yes, yes, yes, to getting her drug addition treated in rehab. Vocally not her best performance, but definitely the most emotional/ meaningful of the night. Winehouse remained somewhat composed, but timid, and for the most part humble when accepting her Grammy(s). Over the past two weeks I have given a thorough, but overdue listen to her album "Back to Black." This somewhat autobiographical album has a common theme tied together in each song. The constant reference to dealing with addiction through the metaphor of fading in and out of black, fading in and out of happiness is reminiscent in each song. "Tears Dry on their Own" is definitely the "feel good" song of the album featuring Amy in pure light. "He walks away the sun goes down...but I am grown." Another personal favorite on the album is "You Know I'm No Good" which Winehouse performed last night prior to "Rehab". I could bore readers with more references of the theme of fading in and out of light for example, in "Wake up Alone," the line regarding drowning in blue light, but I won't. Cya Bye.
